Abram rescues Lot

Abram had separated from Lot, but he still cared for his nephew when he was in trouble.

Lot had chosen to live in Sodom, even though the people there were wicked.

One day, Sodom and Gomorrah became involved in a war, and the enemies took everything the cities had, including Lot.

A man who had managed to escape informed Abram about what had happened.

So Abram took 318 loyal servants who had spent their entire lives with him and rescued Lot. He also brought back the women and possessions of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.

On his way back, Abram met King Melchizedek, who came out to greet him.

Melchizedek was a priest of the Most High God and brought Abram bread and wine, blessing him.

Abram gave Melchizedek a tithe. Melchizedek had not asked for it; Abram gave him an offering voluntarily, probably out of gratitude that everything had gone well in the war. We do not know why.

In the end, the king of Sodom offered Abram to keep the possessions he had regained in the war for himself, but Abram refused because he did not want people to say that the king of Sodom had made him rich.

He took only a small amount to cover his own expenses and left the rest to the king of Sodom.
